Sharon Rooney

Actress

Sharon Rooney is an actress who starred as Rae Earl in E4 hit series My Mad Fat Diary. Sharon was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Award and an RTS Award for best actress. She has also starred in Mountain Goats for the BBC and feature film Hector.

As part of her Breakthrough Brits mentoring programme, Sharon spent time with two of her industry heroes: Victoria Wood and Olivia Colman.

Sharon says: “The highlight for me has been sitting down with my acting heroes and just getting to chat to them; to hear about their experiences and get some advice. This would never have happened otherwise. I’ve been so lucky and they are experiences I treasure and will never forget.”
